Hi,  I'm Melissa Ferraro. I'm dedicated to providing compassionate, certified birth and postpartum support to families in Chippewa County. At this time, I only support families in a hospital or birth center setting. Your joyful experience is my priority.

Birth Doula Services

 

Prenatal support, where we go over comfort measures, develop a birth plan and discuss any questions, concerns, or ideas. 

On call availability, consisting of 24/7 phone support beginning at 38 weeks. Before 38 weeks I will be available by phone or text 12 hours a day to answer any questions or concerns you may have. 

Continuous labor support, in which I will be with you, offering emotional, informational, and physical support, as well as partner reinforcement and self advocacy. 

I will also be with the mother for the first hour after the birth, helping with the immediate transition period, and offering help with newborn care and breastfeeding.

I charge $500 for the entire birth package. At this time I do not accept insurance. 

Postpartum Doula Services

Postpartum services include in home visits to help the family to adjust to life with a newborn, including breastfeeding help, swaddling, soothing techniques, newborn baths, nutrition, and self care. 

I will offer emotional support, to help navigate the feelings and emotions brought about by having a new baby in the home. 

I will also offer light housekeeping help, so the family can get the rest they need. 

My rate is $25 an hour. At this time I'm not available for overnight help.

I will employ the 5 facets of support, physical support before, during, and after the birth- teaching comfort measures; emotional support- listening to your hopes, fears, and ideas; partner reinforcement- helping the birth partner to be the support needed; informational support; giving you the information needed in order to make informed decisions regarding your birth; and self advocacy support- teaching you and encouraging you to effectively communicate your wishes.

Hiring a postpartum doula benefits you by providing practical and emotional support during the transition to parenthood. They assist with newborn care, breastfeeding, and some minor household tasks, allowing you to focus on recovery and bonding with your baby.
